The 1977-78 Warrior Swim team became the first Waterloo varsity squad to win consecutive national championships as they easily outscored second place University of Toronto 335-286. The CIAU Championships were hosted by the University of Western Ontario at the Etobicoke Olympium.

The Warriors were inducted into the University of Waterloo Hall of Fame on November 9, 1996 in the Team Category.
