Julie Devenny was a member of the Warriors women's basketball team for four seasons (2001-2005), and one of the most decorated student-athletes to have ever suited up for that program. Devenny won both the OUA and U SPORTS (then CIS) rookie of the year awards in 2002 and was also named an OUA all-star that same season. Devenny is the only member of the women's basketball program to have earned the national rookie award. Devenny tallied over 1,000 career points, was the team MVP in 2004 and 2005, and led the team to consecutive OUA semifinals (2002, 2003). Devenny graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and was a four time Academic All-Canadian. She went onto complete her Masters of Physiotherapy at Western University. In 2012, Devenny lost her battle with breast cancer, passing away at the age of 30. She was an incredible athlete, friend, and left behind an ever-lasting legacy as a Warrior.
