• Joy was a member of the Athena swim team for the 1970-1971 and 1972-1973 seasons, competing in the Free Style, Butterfly and Individual Medley events
• In the 1970-1971 season Joy was able to set a new team and O-QWITCA record in the 400m freestyle event with a time of 4:57.4
• In the 1970-1971 O-QWITCA Championships Joy was able to win the 100 I.M. and helped lead the Athena’s to a league championship while swimming in the 200 and 400 freestyle events
• During the 1972-1973 season Joy was able to set another team record in the 200m freestyle event before capturing two silver medals, a team relay gold medal and a team championship at the OWIAA Championships
• Joy was selected to represent Team Ontario at the 1972-1973 CWIAU Championships where her strong swimming help lead Team Ontario to a overall team championship
• Following her tenure at Waterloo, Joy entered the teaching profession teaching kindergarten to grade 12
• Joy remains quite active, participating in 10km and Marathon races, triathlons, and studying Karate
