University of Waterloo Athletics

Carl was a founding member of the University of Waterloo and father of Waterloo athletics. 

He was the Director of Athletics for Waterloo College (1954-1956) prior to being named the first athletic director at the University of Waterloo in 1957.  Carl retired on Oct 1, 1989, after 33 years and passed away peacefully on December 29, 2015.
 
The award presented for the first time in 1969 has been presented to a long list of accomplished male student-athletes who have had successful careers donning the black and gold.
