Waterloo Warriors Hall of Fame
The distinguished Marsden Trophy is awarded annually to the outstanding Warrior female athlete for her athletic excellence and dedication to the Warriors over her time at the University of Waterloo as a student-athlete.
Named in memory of Hildegard Marsden, Dean of Women from 1966 – 1985, Hildegard was a humanitarian, academic, diplomat, and champion of the integration of women on campus. She brought a keen sense of ethical conduct and integrity to the emerging women’s athletic program as an advisor and supporter to women athletes and staff during the early years of the programs growth.
In her first year as Dean, she was instrumental in the inauguration of the Dean of Women’s Trophy, renamed the Marsden Trophy, presented to the outstanding female athlete for athletic excellence and genuine sportsmanship while maintaining academic quality.
Past winners include Olympians Heather Moyse and Dana Ellis, along with others who have pursued professional and Olympic careers.
