• Honours graduate from the University of Waterloo's Kinesiology program, 1973.
• Head coach for the University of Waterloo's Track and Cross Country team (1989-2000)
• Member of the OUA's winning track team for three consecutive terms. For 20 years the relay team record on which Brent ran as an athlete, stood. It was broken by a team coached by Brent McFarlane.
• Coached the unranked women's cross-country team to an OUA title in 1996 which went on to win the CIS championship.
• University OWIAA Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year, 1997, 1998 and 2000.
• Coach of the Year for UW in 1991 and 1997.
• Head Coach of the Kitchener-Waterloo Track and Field Club for 23 of his 32 years of volunteering there.
• National Hurdle Coach for Canada for 28 years.
• Awarded the 3M Coaching Award of Excellence in 1993.
International experience gained as the Canadian Head Track and Field Coach-Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Olympic Hurdle Coach-1980 (Moscow), 1984 (Los Angeles), 1988 (Seoul) and the Commonwealth Games Coach- 1978 (Edmonton), 1986 (Edinburgh) and 1998 (Malaysia).
