Seventeen schools gathered this weekend at the OUA Cross Country Championships, hosted by the Nipissing Lakers at Osprey Links Golf Course, for the men's and women's 8km races on Saturday, October 26.
Leading the charge for Waterloo, Paige Breedon (Barrie) stood out as one of the province's top competitors, securing a tenth-place finish overall with a time of 29:20.3. She was followed by Hillary Clark (Elliot Lake), crossing the line in 29:36.5, with Olivia Vanleeuwen (Guelph) next at 30:10.7. Chloe Vincent (Waterloo) finished fourth for the Warriors in 30:27.5, while Elliot Symon (Vancouver) rounded out the top five with a time of 31:31.5. This collective effort earned the team a strong fourth-place finish overall.
Notably, the Warriors spent much of the race close behind the Guelph Gryphons but managed a significant surge in the final leg to overtake key Guelph runners.

Jacques Tiessen (Elliot Lake) led the men's team with an impressive time of 25:49.8, followed closely by Cameron Dean (Whitby) at 26:06.1 and Patrick Dean (Whitby) at 26:06.3. Jonathan Lysack (Brandon, MB) finished fourth among the Warriors in 26:50.5, with Henrik Petersson (Malmö) rounding out the top five at 27:03.2. The men's team placed seventh overall, showcasing their competitive depth.
