Men's soccer score in stoppage time to tie No. 5 Gryphons

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The men's soccer team waited for the final seconds to make Wednesday evening one to remember on Warrior Field as they found the tying goal in stoppage time to earn a 2-2 draw against the No. 5 team in the country, Guelph Gryphons.

Waterloo went up 1-0 over the visiting Gryphons in the 37th minute as Kevin Espiro (Mississauga/) let an absolute rocket go from 10 feet outside the box that put his squad up early.

The Warriors held on to that 1-0 lead until Guelph got two in a span of 12 minutes to open the second half. Lucas Doros and Cole Fernandez were the Guelph goal scorers.

Waterloo looked down and out until they executed a perfect cross in the 90th minute to tie the game. Sebastian Guerrieri (Oakville/) sent across an absolutely stunning ball that was headed by Sasha Dmitrovic (Kitchener/) past the Guelph keeper to make it a 2-2 game. Seconds later the ref would blow the final whistle and the Warriors earned an impressive 2-2 tie to stay undefeated at 2-0-2 on the season.

On Friday night in Guelph, Waterloo's undefeated streak came to an end as the No. 5 Gryphons got the better of the visiting Warriors, picking up a 2-0 win.

Waterloo will be back on the road on Friday in Windsor at 7:15pm before retuning to Warrior Field on Sunday to face the same Lancers squad at 4:15pm.
