WATERLOO, Ont. - Men's Soccer's Jon Elezi (Kitchener) and Women's Rugby's Olivia Larssen (Burlington, ON/) are your W Store Warriors Athletes of the Week, presented by Imprint.
Elezi, a first-year Recreation and Leisure Studies student, scored two goals and an assist to help lead the Warriors to wins on the road and at home over the Windsor Lancers. Waterloo remains undefeated and sits atop the OUA men's soccer standings two weeks into the season.
"Jon started both games this weekend and scored crucial goals in each game," said men's soccer Head Coach Jon Morgan.
This is the rookie's first Warriors Athlete of the Week award.
Meanwhile, Larsen led the Warriors to their first win of the season, a 48-26 takedown of the Varsity Blues in Toronto. The third-year computer science student scored three tries, all earned under the uprights to give the kicker an easy conversion attempt. She also had a 100% tackle completion rate.
"Olivia showed up for her team in a huge way," said women's rugby Assistant Coach Kennedy Frost (Guelph/). "She continuously broke defensive lines and kept the team in the game with a hat trick. Although not her first, it likely won't be her last!"
This is Larssen's second Warriors Athlete of the Week award.
