The women's rugby team came up short in London on Saturday falling to the Western Mustangs 48-0 in wet and difficult conditions at alumni field.
The Warriors held the always competitive Mustangs to just 22 points in the opening half with great defensive pressure by veterans
Jessie Brush (Kitchener) and
Laura Franco (Kitchener). First year
Kayley Jacobs (Toronto) was an absolute force for the black and gold as the Warrior of the match alongside Brush for the second game in a row.
Danielle Duncan (Waterloo) had numerous line breaks in the game with great footwork and pace but just couldn't find the zone for the try.
Â
"The team had an incredible performance in the first half with great defence pressure causing some key turnovers for the Mustangs," said first year head coach
Rebecca Delaney.Â
Â
"The coaching staff is very happy with how the girls performed in the opening 40 minutes, playing with that Warrior fight and sticking to the game plan on attack. We look forward to the match up next week against the Varsity Blues."
Â
The 1-1 Warriors will take on Toronto on Saturday at 12pm on the lower CIF field.Â
