The Waterloo Warriors (1-7-2) walked away with a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon against the Brock Badgers (1-9-2) on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Brock Field in St. Catharines.
Brock opened the scoring nine minutes in as sophomore
Sam Orlando (Woodbridge, Ont.) drilled a free kick from 20 yards out past Waterloo goalkeeper
Hansel Paico-Avilez (Oakville/) for his fourth goal of the season and 11th of his career.
Just six minutes later, the Warriors would tie it 1-1 as
Victor Jiminez (Kitchener /) capitalize on a misplayed ball by Brock goalkeeper
Jake Sweetzer (Mississauga, Ont.) and put it in the empty net.
The Badgers would continue with the pressure, eventually scoring in the 39th minute as freshman
George Gill (Ennismore, Ont.) scored his first career OUA goal to take the lead into halftime, 2-1.
In the second half, the Badgers played more defensively trying to secure the lead.
In the 73rd minute, Waterloo's
Jordan Cannon (Greenock/) would beat an outstretched Sweetzer tying the game 2-2.
Brock would put the pressure on in the final three minutes, but were unable to answer, settling for the 2-2 draw. The Badgers have now grabbed points in their past three games and sit 11 points out of a playoff spot with six games remaining.
Sweetzer and Paico-Avilez both collected four saves each.
Waterloo returns to Warrior field next weekend to face Windsor on Saturday and Western on Sunday.
