The Warriors picked up their second win of the season blanking cross-town rivals Laurier Golden Hawks in a emotionally fueled game at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was a busy first half on both sides of the field; however neither team was able to find the back of the net. Both teams had a strong defence front but it was the Hawks who had the first chance of the game. Forward Cameron Stephan of Brantford, Ont., found some space but had his shot blocked off by Warrior goalkeeper Alterto Tinebra of Hamilton, Ont., who made two saves throughout the game.
The game changing goal was shot on an empty net by Warrior midfielder Victor Jiminez (Kitchener /) on a breakaway against Harrington in the 90th minute to seal the victory for Waterloo.
With the win the Warriors improved to 2-6-0 on the season while Laurier fell to 2-4-2 and sit two points ahead of Waterloo.
Waterloo travels to Toronto next weekend to face the no. 1 York Lions who are yet to lose a game on the season with a 5-0-2 record. The game is set for Saturday, October 1 at 1pm.
