Men's soccer announces first recruit for 2021, Justin Joseph

The Warriors Men's Soccer program is excited to announce Justin Joseph (Mississauga, Ont.) as its first high profile recruit for the 2021 season. Joseph is a centre back and plays for the Woodbridge Soccer Club, where he was the OPDL team captain for the past 3 years. He currently plays for WSC U21 League 1 Reserve team.

Joseph started his soccer career at the age of five and his passion grows each year. He played on the Loyola Catholic Secondary School senior team since grade 9. He is also a multi-disciplined athlete as he is an outstanding sprinter and solid volleyball player.

"I first spotted Justin while coaching with Team Ontario and when he attended our weekend residential recruit camp, he really stood out against players older than him. We have tracked his progress over the past 2 years and are very happy to land this very talented recruit," said Head Coach Mark Worton.

"I am honored to be a Warrior and play for Coach Worton! I hope to play a key role in taking the Warrior Soccer Program to the highest level. The University of Waterloo is a world class University with outstanding Engineering facilities and faculty. UW is a perfect fit for my passions of robotics and high-performance soccer. I can hardly wait to visit the Waterloo RoboHub and practice in the new Warrior Field House," commented Joseph. "I also want to say thank you to all my school teachers and sports coaches over the years, especially coach Fabio Panetta and Technical Director Marco Reda at Woodbridge."

"Justin is a very well rounded young man who is focused on academics and has a strong desire to play at the highest level. His maturity will enable him to be successful in both aspects. We are looking forward to working with him in our competitive Warrior program", added Worton.
