The Warriors opened their 2017 season with mixed results against a tough Toronto team on Saturday and their home opener game against the McMaster Marauders Sunday.
Like their male counterparts, the women Warriors have not had much success against the Blues in their regular season encounters. However, it is worth noting that the last time these two teams played each other, it was during the 2016 OUA Championships which Waterloo won 4-3. This earned them a semi-final spot at the Championships was the first time they broke into the top four. Saturday, though, they lost 0-7.
The best performer for the Warriors was
Nathalie Skaf (San Jose, CR) who won her doubles match with partner
Colleen Fernandes (Mississauga) in a tight 8-7 win and later had a close match before losing 5-7, 4-6.
Â
On Sunday the Warriors were at home to the McMaster Marauders. Unfortunately, only half of the scheduled matches were played as the Marauders were unable to bring a full team of eligible players. The Warriors won easily the matches that were played.
The Warriors will next be in action against Brock September 17 at the
Waterloo Tennis Club starting at noon.
