The Warriors men's soccer team played against some of the top competition in the OUA and came away empty handed, but put together solid efforts in both matches.
On Saturday, Waterloo fell behind 4-0 to the York Lions, winners of two of the last three national championships, but the never-say-die Warriors clawed their way back with three goals in the final 30 minutes.Â
Florian Bruckeder (Waterloo/)Â netted two ('68, '83) while
Nicholas Ribeiro (Bolton/) had the other Warrior tally in the 81st minute but it wasn't enough as the Warriors dropped the contest 4-3.
On Sunday, the Warriors again put together a solid match but could not solve McMaster keeper Jesse DiDomenico.Â
Yusuf Khaled (Burlington/) had the best chances, one on a free kick that was turned aside by Di Domenico, and another one that struck the crossbar. Sasha Ricciuti's goal in the 8th minute stood up as the winner as Mac took it by a score of 1-0.
The Warriors will look for their second win of the season on Friday when they take on cross-town rival Laurier. Kick off is at 1:15 at University Stadium. Â
