Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 The Warriors needed to be perfect in a pair of games with Algoma this weekend in order to qualify for the post-season but came just short as the two teams battled their way to a 1-1 tie on Sunday at Warrior Field in what was a must-win for the black and gold.
With the tie Waterloo finished the season with a 4-9-3 record with 15 points, one point behind the sixth and final playoff spot occupied by Windsor.
On Saturday Waterloo earned the victory beating Algoma 5-1. Â Jae Jin lee and
Christoph Bruckeder (Waterloo) each had two goals in the win while Nicholas Riberio had the other. Â Lee would finish the season with nine goals, the eighth most in the OUA. Â
The win set the Warriors up well for a post-season berth but it wasn't meant to be as the black and gold needed the three points to continue their season. Â In their 1-1 tie,
Patrick Aquino (Antigonish) netted the lone goal.
It was a season of up's and down's for the men's soccer program but there is certainly a lot of positives to look forward to heading into next season and beyond.
