The women's team along with their male counterparts hosted their first official home game of the season on Saturday against McGill Redmen. One of the stronger women teams this year, the Redmen swept the doubles with ease. In singles play, though no Warrior was able to manage a win, good performances came from Nicole Holland (Oakville), Lupita Widyasanti (New Westminster) and Trisha Abraham (Mississauga).
On Sunday against the Toronto Blues, the Warriors came close to squeeking out a win but lost 3-4 in the end when Toronto managed to win the doubles point after the score was tied 3-3 in singles. The singles were played first rather than the doubles which is the reverse of the traditional order. No. 1 Lucy Yao (Whitby) gutted out a three-set win, losing the first set 3-6 but battled back to even the score in a tie-break then ran away with the third set. Two other singles wins came from Trisha Abraham (Mississauga) and rookie Karli Fiaes. Abraham had a very good outing winning both her singles and doubles matches.Â
