Warriors Drop Physical Contest 2-0 to Mustangs

Box Score The Western Mustangs defeated Waterloo Warriors 2-0 on Wednesday evening in a heated affair. Warriors' Thomas Nodjesch had a dominating performance in goal making 13 saves, but the offence was thwarted by a Mustangs team that dominated possession. The Warriors continue their losing streak and fall to 0-3 on the season.

Western Mustangs started the game off with a sense of urgency and put the pressure on the Warriors early. After solid ball movement, the Mustangs created quality scoring opportunities that Nodjesch turned aside. Western's Christian Douglas would break the deadlock in the 39th minute after cleaning up a rebound. Warriors headed into half-time down 1-0.

The second half opened with much of the same in Western dominating possession and generating multiple scoring opportunities. Douglas would add his second goal of the game in the 56th minute after outrunning the Warriors back four.

Waterloo would add pressure towards the end of the game but could not get past the Mustangs strong defensive play. Waterloo was limited to 4 shots in the game.
The Warriors remain winless on the season and will need to do more to generate scoring in their next games. Waterloo will host Brock and McMaster, respectively on September 13th and 14th at Warrior Field.
