Second half surge lifts Marauders past Warriors

Rookie midfielder Christian Truyen tallied two goals  in a span of five minutes (48', 53') and Gersi Xhuti fired home a penalty kick in the 80th minute as the McMaster Marauders spoiled Waterloo's black and gold day with a 3-1 win.

Over 1,5000 fans were in attendance to witness the exciting match which went back and forth in the opening half but the home side ran out of steam in the second 45 minutes and McMaster took full advantage.

Waterloo did however manage to find their first goal of the season as Mohamed Aborig (Tripoli/) put home a penalty kick past McMaster keeper Angelo Cavalluzzo in the 86th minute.  Warrior netminder Thomas Modjesch (Hateg/) was busy in the game making several acrobatic saves in the loss.  The rookie tender finished with seven saves on 10 shots while Cavalluzzo allowed one goal on four shots.

The Warriors will turn their attention to the Guelph Gryphons this afternoon as they hope to right the ship with their first victory of the season.  The contest is set for 3:15pm at Warrior Field.
