On a busy weekend with three match-ups in three days, the Women Warriors were competitive but fell just shy of their goal of two wins over this middle weekend of the regular season.
Â
The rookies (Nathalie Skaf (Mississauga/), Colleen Fernandes (Mississauga/) and Trisha Abraham (Mississauga/)) continued to impress with critical wins in doubles and singles to edge by the UOIT Ridgebacks in Oshawa on Friday. Second year player Kate Stewart also had wins in singles and doubles. On Saturday at York, the Lions were too much for the Warriors. However, the rookies again came up with the wins with Colleen Fernandes (Mississauga/) and Nathalie Skaf (Mississauga/) winning their #2 doubles. Skaf and Trisha Abraham (Mississauga/) won their #3 and #5 singles respectively.Â
The final match-up of the weekend had the Warriors back on home soil (literally, as the women played on the outdoor claycourts). The home court did not prove to be an advantage though as a tired team was beaten by the McMaster Marauders 5 - 2. Skaf and Fernandes came up with the only two points in singles play for the Warriors.Â
