The Warriors picked up their first victory of the season in commanding fashion defeating the UOIT Ridgebacks 4-0 on Wednesday night in Oshawa. After failing to score a goal in their first two games of the season, Waterloo jumped all over the Ridgebacks early and often. The Warriors had four different goal scorers in the match showing their offensive balance.
Midfielder
Adam Craig (Toronto/Westside S.S) opened the scoring for the Warriors netting the first goal of the season for the black and gold. Fifth year striker
Billy Bean (Waterloo/) gave the Warriors a two-nil lead scoring his first goal of the season to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead heading into the half.
The second half was much of the same as Waterloo continued their offensive pressure on the Ridgeback defenders. Second year midfielder
Arman Grewal (Mississauga/) and rookie forward
Giovan Logie (Trinidad & Tobago/) rounded out the attack with second half goals to secure the 4-0 victory.
First year goalie
Hansel Paico-Avilez (Oakville/) picked up his first win and shutout of the season making seven stops in the game.
Next up for the Warriors is a meeting with the Windsor Lancers on Saturday, September 10 at Windsor followed by a trip to London to battle the Western Mustangs on Sunday. Both games are scheduled for 3:15pm.
