The Waterloo women's rugby team won a crucial game on Friday afternoon defeating the Western Mustangs 17-12 in their final regular season game.
With the win the Warriors improved to 3-2 on the season and sit comfortably in second place while Western fell to 1-4, good for fourth place in the Shiels Division. Waterloo will host the Brock Badgers in the OUA quarter-finals next Saturday, October 15 at the CIF fields.
Contributing offensively for the Warriors was
Savannah Gentile (Oakville/) with her fourth try of the season while
Rachel Brown (Cambridge/) and
Kaley Maksymyk (Cambridge/) each added their third tries of the season.
Megan Colwell (Spencerville/) rounded out the scoring with one convert on the afternoon.
Scoring for the Mustangs was Arielle Dubissette-Borrice (Toronto), her sixth try of the season while Mackenzie Fane (Holland Landing, Ont.) added the other single try for Western. Laurie Biewald (Ottawa, Ont.) was successful on one of two convert attempts to round out the Mustang attack.
