The Waterloo men's soccer team gave up three unanswered goals in the second half to fall to the Brock Badgers 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Field. Waterloo held a 2-0 lead into the 50
th minute before Brock answered with three goals in a span of 18 minutes to pick up the crucial three points.
With the loss Waterloo was eliminated from the playoffs with a 3-10-1 record while Brock kept their playoff hopes alive as they sit in the sixth and final playoff spot with 18 points at 5-8-3.
Rookie winger
Giovan Logie (Trinidad & Tobago/) opened the scoring for Waterloo with his third marker of the season at the 15
th minute. Waterloo added to their lead as midfielder
Jesse Bean (Waterloo/) found the back of the net at the 47
th minute for his third of the season as well.
Brock would find their legs down 2-0 at the 55
th minute as Kenji Nicks (St. Catharines, Ont.) would bring the Badgers to within one with his second goal of the season. Andres Nimtsiv (Courtice Ont.) evened the game 11 minutes later with his first goal of the season. Midfield Sammy Orlando (Woodbridge, Ont.) completed the comeback with his team leading seventh goal of the season at the 77
th minute to secure a 3-2 victory.
Warrior keeper
Alberto Tinebra (Hamilton/) was charged with the loss making two saves while Brock keeper (Brampton, Ont.) was the busier of the two goalies making 10 saves for the win.
The Warriors wrap up their season next weekend as they travel to Hamilton to face the McMaster Marauders on Friday evening and then to Guelph to face the Gryphons on Sunday afternoon.
