First year keeper, Rob McMillan (Newburgh, Ont.) posted his second and third shutouts of the season blanking the UOIT Ridgebacks 1-0 on Friday night in Oshawa and soundly defeating the Brock Badgers 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in Waterloo. With the two wins the Warriors catapulted themselves into second place in the OUA west men's soccer division, one point ahead of Laurier and McMaster.
Rookie Prescott Goldsworthy (Waterloo, Ont.) of Waterloo scored his first goal of the season in extra time to give the Warriors a hard fought victory over the Ridgebacks. The Warriors controlled much of the game when they finally found their legs after spending 3.5 hours on a bus which broke down on their way to Oshawa.
On Sunday afternoon, the Warriors continued their hot streak putting three goals past Badgers keeper Ryan Toale (Brampton, Ont.). Second year fullback Kurtis Lubbers (Wallaceburg, Ont.) opened the scoring in just the 13th minute, his second marker of the season. Two minutes later kinesiology student Billy Bean (Waterloo, Ont.) would add his third of the year to put the Warriors ahead 2-0. Victor Salajan (Kitchener, Ont.) came in as a substitution to score his first of the year and secure the victory for the black and gold.
Waterloo now sit a 5-4-0, second place in their division. The Warriors continue their busy schedule as they travel to Windsor and London next weekend for afternoon games with the Lancers (1-2-5) on Saturday and the undefeated third ranked Mustangs (8-0-1) on Sunday.
