Warriors fall to Lions 5-1

The York Lions got the revenge they were looking for in a big way on Wednesday afternoon in Toronto.  After falling to the Warriors on the weekend and losing their national ranking, the Lions bounced back to defeat the Warriors 5-1 in a rare weekday afternoon game.

Third year striker Adrian Pena (Woodbrige, Ont.) scored two goals in the first half to lead the charge for the Lions following the opening marker by Alon Badat (Thornhill, Ont.) in only the 5th minute of the game.  Midfield Dominic Antonini (Winnipeg, Ont.) and Matino Belligero (Toronto, Ont.) would each add one of their own.  Scoring the lone goal for the Warriors late in the second half was rookie midfielder Jesse Bean (Waterloo, Ont.), his first of the year.

Fortunately for the Warriors, they have a chance to quickly erase the memory of this tough loss as they face the UOIT Ridgebacks (1-4-2) tomorrow evening (Friday, Sept. 24) in Oshawa.  The Warriors (3-4-0) look to get themselves back to .500.  The Lions (4-2-0) look to continue their streak on Sunday against the Laurier Golden Hawks (3-2-1).
