Off the back of a victory at the Seneca Sevens Winter Classic on February 22, Warriors Men's Rugby have done it again.
Continuing the journey of developing their sevens game, and preparing for another OUA campaign, the team won the RMC Sevens Tournament on March 22.
For the second consecutive tournament, head coach Graham Stickler's squad went undefeated en-route to victory, scoring a total of 21 tries and conceding only seven across four games.
Guided through the weekend by coach Paul Schroeder, the Warriors defeated the Queen's Gaels in the opener by a score of 24-17. Flying out of the gate in game two, they beat the St. Lawrence Surge 48-5. In a rematch with Queen's in game three, they continued their strong form against the Gaels with a 20-10 victory, setting up a matchup with the RMC Paladins in the final. Giving the hosts a hard go on their turf, the Warriors took the title with a 29-5 victory.
Led on the offensive front by Xavier Krueger, who scored five tries in the tournament, Stickler once again championed the efforts of the squad's rookies who partook in the event.
"Of course, it's very satisfying to win our second tournament this winter," Stickler mentioned, "but the most pleasing thing for me was to see how we have progressed this winter from a pure rugby perspective."
"We demonstrated mobile skills that we are seeing hold up under pressure. That has been a result of all the hard work we have done this winter in the Field House."
In what has been an experimental and successful winter season, the squad's IQ has been growing exponentially in these settings, setting them up well for the season ahead.
