WATERLOO, Ont. - Men's golf's Zach Burt (Fergus, ON/) and baseball's Luca Valvo have been named the W Store Warriors Athletes of the Week, presented by Imprint.  

Burt began the week off golden with a first-place finish in the Western Invitational at St. Thomas Golf & Country Club on Monday. The Recreation and Sport Business  low score of 67 led the Warriors to a team gold medal as well, their first podium finish of the season. 

"Zach had an outstanding round of 67 at the challenging St. Thomas Golf & Country club, highlighted by 6 birdies spread throughout his round - an impressive achievement on such a demanding course," said Men's Golf Head Coach Tara Savoie. 

The Warriors wasted no time in adding to the hardware, taking home team silver at Sunday's Brock Invitational at Sawmill Golf Course in Fenwick, Ont. Burt once again doubled up with an individual silver, his score of 68 just one back of the low round. 

Valvo, meanwhile, continued his already stellar rookie campaign with a complete game victory over the Brock Badgers on Sunday. Valvo allowed just one earned run on three hits and one walk, while striking out six. 

Valvo now sits among the top five pitchers in the OUA in wins, ERA, and WHIP.  

"Luca took the ball in a must-win game for the Warriors, and carved up a loaded Brock roster. He pounded the strike zone, pitching a complete game and guaranteeing victory for the Warriors," said baseball Head Coach Ben Norris. 

"The rookie right-handed pitcher and biomedical engineering student is proving why he's a top arm in the ultra-competitive OUA West." 

This is the second Warriors Athlete of the Week award for Burt, and the first for Valvo.
