University of Waterloo Ringette Team Achieves Strong 5th Place Finish at Ontario Provincials

The University of Waterloo Ringette team recently competed in the Ontario Ringette Provincials, held in West Ottawa, from February 27th to March 2nd, marking a significant achievement as they made their first-ever provincial appearance. Finishing 5th out of 8 teams, the team showcased their growth and determination, building on several strong performances in previous tournaments. With standout individual performances, including Sierra Blackburn earning 5 points and several players being named MVPs, the teams hard work is evident. As the team looks ahead, they are determined to come back even stronger for the next provincials. In the broader standings of the 2025 Ringette Ontario AA Provincial Championships, the University of Waterloo holds a 1-3-1 record, and they are focused on using these experiences to improve for future competitions.

The MVPs of the University of Waterloo Ringette team were recognized for their exceptional performances throughout the tournament. Danielle Abrams, Sierra Blackburn, Rachel Trembley, and Marie Bouchard all stood out for their dedication and skill, making significant contributions to the team's overall performance.

We are proud to have four players listed as leaders in the ringette provincials. Sierra Blackburn led our team with 3 goals and 4 assists over 5 games, earning a total of 7 points and averaging 1.40 points per game. Emily Sharpe contributed 3 goals and 1 assist in 4 games, totaling 4 points with an average of 1.00 points per game. Marie Bouchard also played 4 games, scoring 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points, averaging 0.74 points per game. Danielle Abrams appeared in 5 games, recording 4 assists and an average of 0.70 points per game. As a team, they played 5 games, securing 1 win, 3 losses, and 1 tie. The team has scored 13 goals, highlighting their offensive capability.
