Fifteen teams gathered at Windsor's Ambassador Golf Club for the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Golf Championships, bringing together Ontario's top university golfers in a battle for provincial titles. The Waterloo Warriors arrived with high hopes, led by standout players Abby Barker (Kitchener) and Zach Burt (Fergus), each coming off strong seasons. Barker, who recently claimed gold at the Guelph Invitational with an impressive round of 73 that included six birdies, has made a significant impact within the Warriors program. Burt, meanwhile, entered the championships to defend the Len Shore Trophy from his championship win in 2023.
At the OUA Championships, the women's team was led by Alyssa Jamal (Mombasa), who completed 36 holes with a score of 17-over, finishing 11th individually. On the men's side, Graem Costigan (Cambridge) emerged as the Warriors' top scorer, wrapping up two rounds with an impressive five-over score. His strong day two performance allowed him to climb eight spots on the leader board, securing a 15th place finish overall. Despite facing challenging rounds, both players had standout performances.
After two days of competition, the Warriors women's team finished in seventh place, while the men's team finished eighth. These results reflect a season of growth and perseverance, highlighting the team's steady progress on the greens. As the season wraps up, the Warriors can look ahead to next season confidently.
