It was a big night for the Ford brothers as both were selected in the 2022 CFL Draft within five picks of each other. The 2022 Male Athlete of the Year and 2021 Hec Crighton Trophy winner
Tre Ford (Niagara Falls, ON/) was selected by the Edmonton Elks in the eighth round before twin brother and 2022 Shield of Excellence Winner Tyrell went five picks later to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.Tre is the first quaterback in 42 years to be selected in the first round of the CFL Draft.
"It was a great night for Warriors football and in particular for the Ford twins," said football head coach
Chris Bertoia. "Those two are absolutely sensational players who will make immediate impacts for those two clubs."
Just a couple days prior to the CFL Draft, both Tre and Tyrell were invited to NFL mini-camps to show off their talent in the hopes of signing a contract. Tre received invites to the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants camps while Tyrell was invited to the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets camps. Both will be making their way to those respective cities later this week.
