A pair of Warriors swimmers, third year
Lukas Wormald (Kitchener/) and rookie
Aidan Iapicco (St. Catharine's/) took to the pool this past weekend at the Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials held at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. After a year with many ups and downs and breaks in training, both swimmers put together outstanding performances earning personal bests.
"It was very exciting to see both Lukas and Aidan have the opportunity to race after 15 months of no competition," said head coach Jacky Beckford-Henriques. "You could tell how much they missed the thrill of competition, and they both had a tremendous time getting back up on the blocks and racing again with the top 18 swimmers in Canada within their respective events."
Wormald achieved personal best times in the 50m Freestyle (23.82) and 100m Butterfly (56:05) and was just off his best in the 200 Individual Medley with his time of2:08:70. Iapicco, representing the Warriors for the first, time had a personal best in the 100m Breaststroke with his time of 1:06:31 and an equal best time in the 200m Breaststroke at 2:22:77.
"Both swimmers should be very proud of how they represented the Warriors and will be heading into the OUA season feeling confident and ready," concluded Beckford-Henriques.
