The Warriors women's hockey team was on home ice for their first regular season game of 2021-22 as they took on the Laurier Golden Hawks for the second time in four nights. The Warriors scored a first period powerplay marker and added an empty netter and that was all they needed as Mikayla Schnarr (Waterloo, ON/) shut the door making 14 stops as the black and gold earned their second straight Battle of Waterloo win.

The game winner came off the stick of rookie Megan Fergusson (Kitchener, ON/), her first as a Warrior as she tipped home a Trisha Cho (Mississauga, ON/) blast from the point on the PP. Carley Olivier (Sudbury, ON) slid the perfect pass over to Cho who fired it on net. Fergusson got just enough of it to tip it past Laurier's keeper Cohen Meyers.

That was all the offence needed as the Warriors defence kept the Golden Hawks offence quiet for most of the night. Keira Raitt added an empty netter with Brooklyn Cole (Kitchener, ON/) and Fergusson picking up assists and the Warriors cruised to the finish line with a 2-0 victory.

Waterloo will now take on the Gryphons in their next home and home with the first game slated for Wednesday night in Guelph before they return to the CIF on Saturday, November 13 for a 7pm puck drop. Both games can be seen live on OUA.tv.
