It was quite the night for NCAA transfer
Leah Herrfort (Palmerston, ON/) who scored two goals in a 3-2 overtime win over the Guelph Gryphons on Wednesday night as the Warriors improved to a perfect 3-0-0 on the young OUA season.
Mikayla Schnarr (Waterloo, ON/) made 29 saves keeping her record perfect at 3-0-0 as well.
The Gryphons took a 1-0 lead into the final frame before the Warriors found their offence.
Madison Pritchard (Richards Landing, ON/) slid a backhand between the legs of Gryphons keeper Alexandra Davidson to even the score at 1's. Pritchard took a nice pass from
Keiara Raitt (Ancaster, ON/) in the slot and made no mistake on the backhand.
Herrfort put the Warriors up 2-1 on a beautiful shorthanded marker after another perfect feed from Raitt. Raitt found Herrfort open in the slot after a Guelph giveaway at the blueline and Herrfort wired the shot past Davidson's glove hand to give the Warriors a one goal lead.
Carley Olivier (Sudbury, ON) picked up the helper on the go-ahead goal, her first of two on the night.
Guelph found the equalizer just three minutes later to send the game into overtime where Herrfort again buried a beautiful goal after Olivier found her streaking to the net. Herrfort went forehand, backhand, top shelf to give the Warriors the 3-2 overtime win.
Krystin Lawrence (Tecumseh, ON/) earned the second helper after finding Olivier high in the zone.
Waterloo will be back on home ice again on Saturday as they take on the Guelph Gryphons at 7pm. The game can be viewed live on OUA.tv.
