Swim Report: Battle of Waterloo, Oct 30

This past weekend the Warriors battled Laurier for their second meet of the 2021-2022 season. The Warriors won the meet in a deciding fashion, claiming gold in 18 of 20 events.
Warriors came out strong right off the block, claiming gold and silver medal spots in the Men's and Women's 100m breaststroke event behind Max Hao (1:04.71), Ian Chambers (1:05.60),
Christina Ji (Oakville/) (1:12.51), and Kaelyn Kelly (1:19.44). They then swept the podium in the 50m back stroke event, with
Bryan Yang (Thornhill/) (26.95) and
Kayla Chenier (Woodiville/) (32.46) winning gold, Shevinda DeSilva (27.29) and Kate Netherton (32.52) claiming silver,
Justin Wang (Richmond Hill/) (28.13) and Ellie Wong (33.14) getting bronze.
The women continued their strong performance in the 100m freestyle event, again claiming the top 3 spots by Katherine Ye (1:00.61),
Dara Al-Bakry (Oakville/)(1:01.13), and
Alyssa Zhang (Mississauga/) (1:01.32).
Raymond Duong (Markham/) (52.18) also claimed silver in the men's 100m freestyle event.
Charles Marcial (Mississauga/) (26.11) and Ian Chambers (26.71) started off strong in the 50m fly, claiming gold and bronze in the event. Nyah Stables (31.44) and
Paige Lavergne (Oakville/) (32.92) followed up with a gold and silver of their own in the 50m fly. Ava Luzzi (2:28.67) and
Justin Wang (Richmond Hill/) (2:13.29) then both captured gold in the 200m individual medley, followed by
Joshua Dancey (St.John's/) (2:13.63) coming in at second place as well. Next up in the 100m backstroke,
Christina Ji (Oakville/) (1:07.31) captured her second gold of the day, Kate Netherton (1:09.20) collected her second silver, and
Kayla Chenier (Woodiville/) (1:10.78) came in third;
Bryan Yang (Thornhill/) (58.13) also grabbed his second gold of the day and Shevinda Desilva (59.16) grabbed his second silver.
In the 50m freestyle event, the men and women again captured the top 3 positions.
Raymond Duong (Markham/) (23.87),
Charles Marcial (Mississauga/) (24.53) and
Sasha Menegotto (Guelph/) (24.72) captured the medals for the men, and Katherine Ye (27.37),
Dara Al-Bakry (Oakville/) (27.58), Su Yeong Choi (28.53) medaled for the women.
Jyasi Daniel () (1:01.57) and
Kieran Waterous (Pritchard/) (1:02.85) added another gold and silver to the Warrior's count in the 100m fly. Not to be outdone by the men,
Alyssa Zhang (Mississauga/) (1:08.55) and Nyah Stables (1:12.01) captured gold and silver of their own in the 100m fly as well. Next in the 50m breaststroke,
Charles Marcial (Mississauga/) (29.98) and Max Hao (30.14) came in second and third place for the men.
Christina Ji (Oakville/) (33.77) collected her third gold medal finish, while Kaelyn Kelly and Katherine Ye tied for a silver finish with 35.71s. Finally, in the 200m freestyle,
Shaylin Smallegange (Burlington/) (2:23.33) and
Sean Kelly (Oshawa/) (2:02.85) came second, while Kate Netherton (2:21.59) and
Devon Miller-Junk (Burlington/) (2:02.70) capped off the final event with another double gold for the Warriors.

As a team, the Warriors came out on top in a convincing fashion.

The Warriors will compete in a meet with Brock and McMaster University at St. Catherines on Nov 27, followed by another in London against Western University on Dec 4.
