Women's curler Sarah Koltun competing in Scotties

While the Warriors curling teams competed on the biggest OUA stage, first year member of the women's team, Sarah Koltun (Whitehorse/) took to the ice on the biggest national stage at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The biggest Canadian women's curling tournament of the year, featuring 16 teams from coast to coast is taking part in Sydney, Nova Scotia and Koltun is representing her home province, Northwest Territories throwing third.

"We are very excited for Sarah to have the opportunity to play at the largest women's curling event in Canada," said curling head coach Bridget Arnold. "Unfortunately the event overlapped with the OUA Championship and we missed her skill out on the ice, but to play in the Scotties is a once in a lifetime opportunity and one you do not pass up."

Koltun, who grew up in the Yukon, is taking her Masters of Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo and played a big part in the Warriors training leading up to the OUA Championship.

"Sarah is a very experienced curler and was a key mentor for our women's team leading into the OUA Championship," mentioned Arnold. "Her program is only one year but the experience and knowledge she has passed onto our team will be valuable for years to come."

Koltun's team finished the tournament at 3-4, just missing out on the medal round.
