A pair of Warriors football players,
Tyler Ternowski (Hamilton/) and
Kurtis Gray (Waterloo/) were named OUA Football All-Stars on Wednesday afternoon.
After both finding spots on the All-Rookie teams last season, Ternowski and Gray proved that the sophomore slump is nothing but a myth with outstanding performances in their second seasons with the Warriors.
Ternowski was named a First-Team All-Star after leading his team in receptions for the second straight year. Ternowski was the focal point of a potent Waterloo offence, to the tune of over 700 yards receiving and three touchdowns in just five games, highlighted by his pair of 200+ yard efforts. Ternowski also led all OUA receivers with an average of 141 yards per game.
On the defensive side of the ball, LB
Kurtis Gray (Waterloo/) led the Warriors with 56.5 tackles to go along with two sacks and was named a Second-Team All-Star for his efforts. The talented defensive star makes for an imposing presence for the opposition, helping the second-year secure his first OUA All-Star selection.
Both were key pieces in Waterloo's 4-4 record and will be relied on even more so in their third year as the Warriors look for their first playoff berth since 2003.
