The women Warriors opened their season as guests of the Blues on Sunday with a 1-6 loss on the outdoor courts of the University of Toronto's Scarborough campus.
The Warriors had a very promising start with all three doubles teams winning their matches and capturing the doubles point. That point though, was to be the only one earned as all six singles players suffered losses in their individual matches. Three rookies, Nancy Baloescu (Kitchener) playing at no. 1, Nancy Wu at no. 4 and Daniela Castro at no. 3 doubles made their debut. Nicole Holland (Oakville) who graduated earlier this year from Waterloo was ruthless against Trisha Abraham (Mississauga) giving up only one game in her win against her former team mate who was not having one of her better days.
The Warriors are at home to McMaster on Saturday 17 and Carleton the following day. Both matches are scheduled to begin at noon at the Waterloo Tennis Club.
