Box Score After a hard fought 5-set loss to the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday night, the Warriors put on the boxing gloves once again as they went to battle against the York Lions on Sunday in Toronto. Waterloo would emerge victorious with a five set win, taking the final set 15-12.
With the win, Waterloo snapped a seven game losing streak and improved to 5-12 on the season while the loss gives York the identical record.
Alyson Colpitts (Fredericton) led the way with 19.5 points thanks to her 17 kills including an absolute bomb on the second to last point from the back row. Colpitts also had two service aces, 14 digs and one block in the win.Â
Also contributing to the offence was
Claire Mackenzie (North Vancouver) who racked up 13.5 points with 11 kills, one service ace and three assisted blocks. Mackenzie was also solid defensively with 17 digs. Two more Warriors,
Casey Clunas (Harriston) and
Mila Kostic-Damnjanovic (Calgary) each had seven kills in the victory.
Sarah Remedios (Ajax) was busy on Waterloo's side of the net, making an incredible 26 digs while
Karly Smith (Lockport) collected 33 assists.
For York it was Celeste Witzell and Keeva MacLeod doing most of the damage with a combined 23 kills.
Waterloo will look to close out the season on a positive note when they host a pair of home games next weekend to wrap up the season. On Friday they welcome the Brock Badgers before their final contest on Saturday with Ottawa. Both games can be seen live on OUA.tv. Â
