WATERLOO, Ont. – Rowing's Callum Myers (Dartmouth, N.S./) and Women's Volleyball's Sydney Batiuk (Prince Albert, Sask./Ecole St. Mary) have been named the W Store Warriors Athletes of the Week, presented by Imprint.
Myers, a fourth-year biology major, captured a silver medal at the Canadian University Rowing Championships in the men's double alongside partner Graham Peeters (Omemee, Ont./). He also earned 11th place in the individual event, all in just his second year on the team.
"Callum is a quiet but fierce competitor, who consistently puts in the effort which pays off in his results. He is generous with his teammates and sets a standard of excellence for our team," said Rowing Head Coach Tania Harper.
This is Myers' first Warriors Athlete of the Week award.
Batiuk, a second year outside hitter, collected 28.5 points in Women's Volleyball's home opener weekend with 25 kills, 3 aces and 1 block over two games.
"Sydney was the highest scoring player in the home opening weekend for women's volleyball, leading the team to two clean sweep wins over York," said Women's Volleyball head coach Richard Eddy.
This is Batiuk's first Warriors Athlete of the Week award.
The next home game for Sydney and the Women's Volleyball team will take place on Friday, November 14th at 6:00 PM against the Toronto Varsity Blues.
