Tommy Gingras joins Warriors as lead strength coach of basketball and volleyball

The Department of Athletics and Recreation is excited to announce that Tommy Gingras will be joining the basketball and volleyball programs on a 10-month contract as their lead strength coach.

Gingras will be filling a hole left by Conditioning Coordinator, Stacey Majaury as she takes on additional projects including wellness initiatives and working with satellite campuses to improve their fitness space.

Gingras is a recent graduate of the University of Waterloo and earned a BSc in Kinesiology while also spending three years as a sprinter on the varsity track and field team.  His passion for strength and conditioning has found him spending time with various varsity teams here at Waterloo and as well McMaster in their internship program.

Gingras' experience with plyometric and power training from the track and field realm will transfer well to our basketball and volleyball teams training regimes.  He will add an element of explosive training that will aid the current and future athletes to help them maximize their athletic potential on the court.

"I am very excited to have Tommy on board.  He has been a part of our program for a number of years as a student and has grown and developed into a strong leader and coach," mentioned strength and conditioning coordinator Stacey Majaury.  "Our strength and conditioning program has plenty of room for growth and bringing Tommy on board is a step in the right direction.  I am excited to see where we can take this."

Gingras will begin his duties immediately, working with the basketball and volleyball programs to bring them to new heights.
