Â
The women started their season on Saturday at home against a perennial powerhouse, the University of Montreal Carabins. The female Carabins have won four of the past five OUA women's championship's. The Warriors have three returning players and four rookies. All four rookies, Nathalie Skaf (Mississauga/), Colleen Fernandes (Mississauga/), Trisha Abraham (Mississauga/) and Annie Yang (Windsor/), were in action this weekend as one of the team veterans Nicole Holland (Oakville/) could not attend due to co-op commitments.
The Warriors lost the series without taking a match and got a taste of the tennis they all aspire to play. Kate Stewart and Nathalie Skaf (Mississauga/) came closest to taking a doubles match with an 8-5 loss. Colleen Fernandes (Mississauga/) also had some chances in her 6-3, 6-3 loss at number three singles. Team co-captain Lucy Yao (Whitby/) had her first stab at playing in the number one slot.Â
