The Warriors winning streak was snapped at six games as the Brock Badgers downed Waterloo 5-3 on Friday evening at the Seymour-Hannah Centre in St. Catharines.

The Badgers rode a hat-trick from Adam Schwark (Saskatoon, Sask.) and three points from rookie Kaine Geldart (Kingston, Ont.) to knock off the No. 10 Waterloo Warriors 5-3 in the final game before the holiday break Friday.

Schwark opened the scoring in the last seconds of the first period when he banged in a loose puck just before the buzzer sounded to end the frame.  C.J. Dickson (Thorold, Ont.) and Geldart picked up assists on the power play marker.

The Badgers started the second period just as they finished the first.  Forty-eight seconds into the period when Derek Brochu (Welland, Ont.) and Dickson set up rookie Jordan Gignac (Hamilton, Ont.) for his sixth of the season.  Less than two minutes later Geldart added his eighth of the season from Matt Abercrombie (Sarnia, Ont.) and Schwark to put the Badgers up 3-0.

Waterloo finally got on the board at 7:33 of the second period.  It was then that Steve Whitely (Petrolia/) beat Badger goalie Kurt Joryo n the power play, with Kyle Sonnenburg (Waterloo, Ont.) and Tyler Moir (Calgary, Alb.) picking up the assists.

Brock would regain their three-goal lead at 9:28 when Schwark picked up his second of the game from Abercrombie and Joey Pell (Dryden, Ont.)  Schwark's goal would send the teams to the locker room with the Badgers up 4-1.

Waterloo closed the gap to 4-2 11:58 into the third when JJosh Schappert (Winnipeg, Man.)  and Whitely set up Chris Ray (Kelowna, B.C.) on the power play.  With the goal, Ray extended his point streak to 12 games, as he has notched a point in each of his games played this season.

The Badgers would reply with a power play marker of their own at the 15:52 mark.  Schwark completed his hat-trick with Pell and Abercrombie picking up helpers.

With the goalie pulled and a Badger in the penalty box Waterloo would score their third of the game at the 18:00 mark.  Tyler Moir (Calgary/) would tip in Sonnenburg's shot from the point with Jarrett Schnurr (Waterloo, Ont.) picking up the other assist.

Moir's goal would make the score 5-3 put that's as close as the Warriors would get, as Jory and the Badgers defence closed the door to preserve the victory.

The Badgers converted on two of their eight power play chances, while Waterloo was 3-for-8 with the man advantage.

In goal, Jory made 19 saves to earn his seventh win of the season, while Keaton Hartigan (Kitchener) made 32 saves in the loss.

The Warriors (11-6-0) who sit tied for third place in the OUA west will take some much needed rest before returning to the ice in 2011 on Saturday, January 8 as they host the streaky Guelph Gryphons (8-6-2).
