A coach with the varsity curling program since the 1998 season, Scott has worked with a number of outstanding athletes that have curled for the university. In that time, Waterloo Curling has earned 8 OUA Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze and, in Canadian University Curling Championships competition a Gold Medal (Kamloops 2013), two Silver Medals (Welland 2012, Winnipeg 2007) and Bronze Medal (Edmonton 2005). Scott has been actively involved in many aspects of the sport as a participant, organizer and coach. A curling instructor since 1982, Scott has taught the sport to curlers as young as 6 and as old as 82. He has served as president of the Kitchener-Waterloo Curling Club and also on the boards of the Town of Mount Royal and Glenmore Curling Clubs in Montreal.
