Marketing/Events Student Program Coordinator

 Appointment Terms:August 17, 2024 – April 30, 2025 (flexible start date and open to one-term commitments if better suited to the candidate) 
 Rate of Pay:$19.00/hour

Job Summary:

Reporting to Emily Ysselstein, the Marketing Coordinator within Athletics and Recreation, the Marketing & Events SPC will support the Waterloo Warriors Marketing team by planning and executing creative campus and community engagement initiatives that drive school spirit, awareness, and attendance at varsity and recreation events. 

This role includes leading promotional activations, assisting with social media campaigns, designing branded materials, and coordinating logistics on major event days. You’ll be a key member of the team contributing both creatively and operationally to Athletics and Recreation’s marketing success. 

Availability on September 20, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for Homecoming is required. The full promotional events calendar will be shared by July 25, and availability for a majority of these dates is expected. Some evening and weekend work is required. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

      Events & Promotions 

  • Plan and execute campus promotional events to support varsity and recreation programming 
  • Lead set-up and activation of giveaways, contests, and other engagement initiatives 
  • Collaborate with campus partners to co-promote opportunities 
  • Attend weekly marketing meetings to support ongoing planning and team communication 

     Special Event Support 

  • Work alongside the Marketing Co-op Student to lead logistics for special event days 
  • Help execute halftime shows, in-game promotions, theme nights, and fan hype activities 
  • Ensure timely set-up and tear-down of all event materials 
  • Represent Athletics and Recreation with energy and enthusiasm during high-visibility events 

    Graphic Design & Creative Marketing 

  • Create promotional posters, handouts, and signage using the Warriors brand guidelines 
  • Be a creative asset for developing campaign ideas to promote programs and events 
  • Assist with the creation and support of social media marketing campaigns 

Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Outgoing and creative individual who enjoys event planning and working with others 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor 
  • Comfortable taking initiative and leading event-day logistics 
  • Experience in Canva, Photoshop, or other graphic design tools is an asset 
  • A passion for promoting school spirit and connecting with students
