All campers who are over the age of 6 years old will be permitted to do the swim test, which is 30 seconds of treading water straight into swimming 25 yards on their own. If the lifeguards on duty decide they have passed all requirements of the test they will be given a green wristband to swim in all areas of the pool by themselves.
If a camper does not pass the swim test, they will be given a yellow wristband and be fitted for a life jacket. The camper will only be permitted to swim in the shallow end in the general area of a counsellor.
Any camper who does not wish to attempt the swim test can be given a life jacket right away, along with a yellow wristband.
Campers 5 years and under will be given a life jacket with a red wristband, and are not permitted to do the swim test, no matter their swimming abilities.
If a camper has passed a swim test in a previous camp or week, they do not have to redo the swim test.
if a camper has failed a swim test, they will be allowed to try the test again during the camps next swim day.
