Dragon Boat Club competing at 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships

HUALIEN, Chinese Taipei – The University of Waterloo Dragon Boat Club is in Hualien this week for the 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships

"The University of Waterloo Dragonboat Club is extremely excited to be representing our school on the world stage in Taiwan this upcoming week. It's an incredible opportunity that we've been given," said UWDBC president Katie Quigley.

This is the first time within the last five years the club has competed internationally. Most recently, they placed second in the B division 500m at the Pickering Dragon Boat Festival in May, and third in the B Division 200m at the Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival in June.

"We've been training hard for the last 8 months: paddling, lifting weights, and running together as a team of 26. This competition will really be a climactic end to our season. We are beyond thrilled to represent our school and compete against some other incredible countries this week at the Club Crew World Championships."

Competing the in the 24u mixed class, the Warriors will race in the 500m on Wednesday (9:00 PM Tuesday Eastern Time), the 200m on Friday (2:00 AM Friday Eastern Time), and the 2000m on Sunday (9:00 PM Saturday Eastern Time).

All races will be livestreamed on the IDBF's official YouTube channel
