WATERLOO, Ont. - Men's Basketball's Isaiah McRae and Women's Hockey's Keiara Raitt (Ancaster, Ont./Ancaster High School) have been named the W Store Warriors Athletes of the Week, presented by Imprint.
Averaging 22.5 pts, 5.5 assists and 6 rebounds in his games over the weekend, Mcrae helped his team to a huge victory as the Warriors beat the #3 ranked Western Mustangs, 82-74 on Saturday.
"Isaiah is playing with a lot of confidence right now, and that's a direct result of his commitment to playing the game the right way. His unselfishness and sense of collective responsibility allow him to play free, and that's naturally impacting his performance," said Warriors Men's Basketball Head Coach Troy Stevenson.
"He affects winning in a lot of different ways, and we're really happy to see him on this run."
The difference-making point guard set the tone for his team, shooting a scorching hot 5-7 from three-point range. Nothing and nobody was stopping McRae against Western, even when defended by three of the Mustangs best defenders, Isaiah skillfully dribbled his way out passing to his open teammate for the dagger three pointer. The OUA is surely on high alert as Mcrae has lead his team to three wins in their last four games.
This is McRae's fifth Warriors Athlete of the Week award, third this season, and second in as many weeks.
McRae and the Warriors play Saturday, January 24th, 4:00 PM at PAC as the Warriors host the Battle of Waterloo, taking on Laurier. Waterloo are just two wins away from clinching the 2025-2026 Battle of Waterloo.
Since her return from a long-term injury, no player in the league has scored more goals than Keiara Raitt (Ancaster, Ont./Ancaster High School). She scored two goals last weekend in their 8-2 demolition at Nipissing, the only two goals this weekend in their home game against the Lakers, and then another two goals against Guelph in their 4-1 win on Saturday.
"Keiara was outstanding in both wins this weekend" said Head Women's Hockey Coach Shaun Reagan.
With the great return of Raitt, the Warriors have now won nine straight with just a few weeks remaining in the regular season. They currently sit third in the OUA West Division and have been ranked in the top ten in the nation since November 24 by U SPORTS.
This is Raitt's first Warriors Athlete of the Week Award.
Raitt and the Warriors are in St. Catharines on Friday to take on Brock before returning home to host the Carleton Ravens on Saturday, January 24 at 4:00 PM at CIF Arena.
