WATERLOO, Ont. – Cross Country's
Patrick Dean (Whitby, Ont./Anderson CVI) and Men's Hockey
Simon Rose (Renfrew, Ont./St. Josephs High School) have been named the W Store Warriors Athletes of the Week, presented by
Imprint.
Dean, a fourth-year chemistry major, came 28th overall this weekend at the U SPORTS Cross Country Championship, marking the best performance by a Warrior Male at the national level in nearly a decade.
"In his last race as a Warrior, Patrick battled hard at the U SPORTS championship, being the 16th OUA athlete to cross the finish line. Patrick was the lone Warrior to represent the men's team, with a time of 25:30," said cross country Co-Head Coach Justin Spalvieri.
This is Dean's third Warriors Athlete of the Week Award.
Simon Rose (Renfrew, Ont./St. Josephs High School), a fourth-year legal studies major, made a big impact in his first game back from injury this season. Rose notched the game-winning goal – a beautiful end-to-end tally in overtime – and added an assist in Friday's overtime win over the York Lions.
"Assistant Captain, Simon Rose (Renfrew, Ont./St. Josephs High School) contributed majorly in his first weekend back this season, playing lots of key offensive and defensive minutes," said men's hockey Head Coach Brian Bourque.
This is Rose's first Warriors Athlete of the Week Award.
Catch Simon and the rest of the Men's Hockey team back in action on November 21, when they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues.
