WATERLOO, Ont. - Baseball's Carter Kipp (Welland/) and Women's Hockey's Kara Mark (New Hamburg, Ont./Waterloo Oxford District Secondary School and Victus Academy) are the W Store Warriors Athletes of the Week, Presented by Imprint.
Kipp, a first-year second baseman, had four RBIs in Saturday's bronze medal game at the OUA Championship in Kitchener. He crushed a first pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning for a three-run, walk-off home run to give the Warriors their third consecutive OUA medal.
"Carter proved why he's a force to be reckoned with," said Warriors baseball Head Coach Ben Norris. "The first-year Engineering student is a key part of a young Warriors squad that proved once again that the Warriors are one of the top University Baseball programs in Canada."
This is the Engineering major's first Warriors Athlete of the Week award.
Mark, a fourth-year goaltender, picked up right where she left off last season, when she earned the last Warriors Athlete of the Week award of 2024-2025 with her performance at the Miller Waste U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship.
In the first weekend of OUA action in 2025-2026, she posted a 17-save shutout at Carleton in the Warriors season-opener, and stopped 27 of 28 shots at Ottawa the following day.
"Kara was outstanding this weekend in both games," said Warriors women's hockey Head Coach Shaun Reagan. Mark's .978 save percentage ranks second in the OUA, and she's a big reason why the Warriors sit at #4 in the first U SPORTS top 10 rankings of this season.
This is the sixth Warriors Athlete of the Week award for Mark.
