This Friday evening, the Waterloo Warriors faced the Brock Badgers in a thrilling contest. The Warriors applied immediate pressure with smooth passing plays between Ceci Mejia (Stouffville) and Aya Naamani (Oakville), earning a corner just three minutes in and dominating the first five minutes. However, momentum shifted midway through the half, and Brock capitalized netting two quick goals. A huge diving save by Waterloo's goalkeeper Delaney McLeod (Grimsby) closed out the half.
In the second half, the Warriors came out strong. Just over ten minutes in, Naamani launched a 35-yard shot that found the back of the net, cutting the deficit. The pressure continued with a narrow miss from a corner kick just three minutes after. Then, in the 70th minute of play, Paige Heide (Steinbach) set up Cassidy Guha (Waterloo) for the equalizer, tying the match 2-2.
Despite what the scoreline showed, Waterloo controlled much of the game, leading in shots, corners, and saves. The Warriors now look ahead to Sunday's rematch at Brock University.
